Himadri Pakrasi, PhD, director of the International Center for Advanced Renewable Energy and Sustainability (I-CARES), sat down recently with Peter Raven, PhD, the George Engelmann Professor of Botany Emeritus in Arts & Sciences and president emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden for a conversation on the university's new Climate Change Initiative.

Raven chatted with Pakrasi, the Myron and Sonya Glassberg/Albert and Blanche Greensfelder Distinguished University Professor, about the recent launch of the Washington University Climate Change Initiative (WUCCI), which is an I-CARES signature program, led by Raven.

Why is it important that the university launch a climate initiative now? What will it accomplish? How will climate change impact all of our lives in the future? What coursework will accompany this initiative?
